We love a hand written font and Marty Routledge is one of those cats that's damn good at it, especially large scale. Check out his mural completed in Brisbane last month with The Hours.
Kingbrown issue 9 will be out mid-year, featuring more of Marty's handy work, so stay tuned.

Watdafac Gallery is proud to present the first European solo exhibition by Sean Morris.
"Return To Doom Lagoon" is a show of new prints, sketches and murals by the Western Australian artist. It's a continuation of the character-based strangeness that Morris has gained a reputation for - this time we are introduced to the girls of 'Doom Lagoon' and their colourful, mildly satanic adventures in bikinis and jean shorts.
The exhibition will double as a launch of a book, also titled "Return To Doom Lagoon" published by Watdafac and featuring the print work from the show.
[c img='viewer-5.jpeg' caption='':]

eyerupture.com

On tumblr, I always stumble upon artist who impress me, so i click the follow button and watch how their art careers progress. I've been following Jordan Debney on tumblr for a good minute now and his artwork never cease to amaze me. Thanks to Kingbrown the opportunity to interview Jordan came up and this is how it turned out. Enjoy.

Tell us a bit about yourself?

I am a freelance self-taught artist from New Zealand. I like things that repulse the norm and draw them into twisted forms and dissections in order to achieve a dire need for happiness.

[c img='viewer-3.jpeg' caption='':]
Growing up what is your earliest memories of drawing, did you
always know you would be doing this for the rest of your life?

My earliest memory would probably be sitting at my grandparents house at the dining room table drawing aliens from figurines I found at the Salvation Army that my Grandmother works at. I would happily sit there all day doodling their bulbous heads whilst eating the stale crackers my grandmother would chuck to the birds. At that point I knew I would be drawing for the rest of my life, I just didn't know what or where or that I would ever make money off it, I just knew it's was something I would always do.

[c img='viewer-1.jpeg' caption='':]
I like meeting self taught artist, how did you teach yourself to draw? how
do you stay inspired? and did you ever consider attending any art schools?

Well, I always drew scenes from comics I would collect as a child, I always had and sometime still do just for kicks. From then on it kinda manifested into it's own entities. I watched a lot of cartoons and horror movies I would draw inspiration from. The town I lived in wasn't (isn't) the most desired dwelling for a weird, creative child, so I would absorb as much as i could from external sources and go wild with it. I always get asked how i stay inspired and I honestly never know what to say, it's just something I do every day, it's like brushing my teeth, if I haven't drawn in a day or so I start to feel empty and guilty. I attended basic art classes at school and a design polyptych for 8 months and bailed, basically because it wasn't what I was wanting to be doing with my life. I would have been around 18 at the time and really wanted a head start in my actual art career, as opposed to just learning how to cope with one. So I chucked myself in the deep and and started up Eye Rupture and grew it to what it is today as an art collective for all of my works from acrylic board paintings to shirt designs for heavy metal bands in the UK.

[c img='viewer-8.jpeg' caption='':]
Any exhibitions or artwork you can tells about that you're working on now?

I have a lot planned in the next few months but it's all a bit hush hush at the moment because it's not entirely confirmed, I consider it to be one of the greatest adventures I will ever pursue, mentally and creatively.

[c img='viewer-2.jpeg' caption='':]
I remember seeing pictures of you painting a wall with Barry McGoldrick back
in 2012, is there any chance will see more of your artwork in the streets this time?

Oh yes, I have been stocking up on Montana spray paint for a few wall jobs coming up, people will have to keep an eye on my social feeds within the coming weeks.

[c img='viewer-6.jpeg' caption='':]
Whats a kingbrown to you?

Jagermeister vomit.

[c img='Uhipy-QzGu.jpeg' caption='':]
